Language Bags

Language Bags

Helping your child to learn English.

Here at Nursery we offer a Language Bag facility where children who have English as an additional language (EAL) can borrow a bag for a week over which time parents or other members of the family can help your child play and learn new words at the same time.

For Example Teddy Bears Picnic (contents of the bag are pictured below) helps children learn new Eating Words like:

Teddy bear

and any more which might come up during playing with the bag.

Language Bags will be issued on Wednesdays.

Language Bags contain things for an adult to share with a child, you may find a story, a game to play or a book to look at.

Playing together with them will help your child learn new words more quickly.

First you can share the story with your child in your home language.

When you both know the story, you can begin to use some of the English words so that your child can learn to use them too.

Look at the picture to see what is in your bag. This will help you to return all the items for the next child to use. If for any reason an item gets lost please let us know so we can organise a replacement as soon as possible.

Language bags should be handed into Reception on Tuesdays.
